The internal combustion engine industry started In Italy at the beginning
of the history of motors worldwide.
Italian scientists contributed significantly to the creation of both Otto
cycle and Diesel cycle engines in the 19th century.
Companies played a major role in the development of motor products: as a
matter of fact, they have provided important contributions to their constant
improvement, and often anticipated technological innovations which turned
out to be instrumental for obtaining the advanced products we are currently
accustomed to.
Developments have moved along the guidelines of a constant focus on the
needs of the market and on environment related issues, as proved by the
large amounts invested in research programs.
Within today's Italian corporate world, the motor industry is engaged in
every sector where internal combustion engines are used, such as the vehicle,
industry, farming, construction, power generation and marine applications
sectors.
Italian companies are currently able to offer and produce engines ranging
between 3 and 35,000 KW. This remarkable product range, with the complements
required to integrate it in each application, is able to meet all possible
requirements.
Thanks to the efforts made in all these past decades, the development of
Italian engines in terms of unit power increase, noise and vibration reduction,
fume reduction, and improvements in terms of reliability and cost reduction
has been on a level with the most qualified competitors worldwide. This
is reflected in the export share, which is now over 60% of total production.
This result has also been achieved thanks to the global distribution network
.
However, high results have been achieved not simply in terms of product
quality, but also and especially in the ability to constantly focus on the
customer, included the provision of OEM engineering support during the assembling
engine in the end product.
Mr. Gelsomino Sirabella (Wärtsilä Italia SPA) was appointed as
new President during the meeting of 17 July 2006.
Within ITALMOT where is COGREL, Committee of Generating Set Builders.
It is the body which groups the major Italian companies, manufacturing generating
sets.
COGREL belongs to both the trade associations ANIMA and ANIE.
It was born in 1981 from ANIMA/ANIE joint desire to coordinate interests
of some qualified manufacturers who aim at defining high technical and commercial
standards in order to safeguard both themselves and the users.
COGREL hat thus become a rationalizing element in an industrial sector which
has shown great liveliness in the last few years and has become more and
more dynamic.
User companies certainly find in COGREL the competent partner with whom
they can deal with any problems concerning production of diesel electric
energy.
COGREL style is professional reliability: as a matter of fact, only companies
offering both in Italy and abroad, within a free trade economy, technically
qualified products, in compliance with national and international standards
may join COGREL.
